A quick walkthrough of the shop — from signing up to confirming your order.
How to shop in 3 minutes by Jessica Merton
Create your free account on the club shop page. Join the WhatsApp group — this is where your host notifies you when the order window opens.
When the window opens, visit the shop, add items to your cart, accept the Ts & Cs, and click Confirm Order. You'll get an email confirmation.
Your invoice arrives by email after the window closes. Pay promptly — it's how we pay our farmers on time. Check your club's terms for payment method and timing.
Come to your collection address on Market Day. Bring your own bags. Check your order before you leave and return any reusable packaging.
Fresh food, directly from the people who grow it.
Blue banner — open. Shows the closing date and next Market Day.
Pink banner — closed, but shows when the next window is set up.
If there are multiple windows open at once, select the right one from the options on the right.
Click Repeat Order to instantly fill your cart with everything from your last shop. Perfect if your weekly order doesn't change much.
Go through the shop once and heart your regular items. They'll appear in Favourites every time — so you never forget your eggs.
Refine by values — plastic-free, organic, pasture-raised and more. Find on the left of the shop page.
Once you know your producers, browse their full range directly. Great for discovering new items from farmers you already love.
Scroll down the shop to find items grouped by type — fresh produce, dairy, pantry, baked goods and more.
Type a specific item in the search bar, then filter results by popularity or price.
When ready, go to your Cart, accept the Ts & Cs, and click Confirm Order. You'll get a confirmation email each time.
If the window is still open, you can click Amend Order to make changes — but if you amend and forget to confirm again, your order will not be received. Always double-check you've confirmed before leaving the page.
Market Day — collect, check, return your packaging, say hello.
About food clubs
Supermarkets are designed to concentrate power away from farmers and communities. They hide where food comes from, pay producers unsustainably low prices, and drag food through long, wasteful supply chains.
Food clubs rebuild short, accountable relationships. You know your farmer. Producers set their own price and are paid within 7 days. Nothing is hidden.
On like-for-like items, most prices through your food club will be better than your local retailer. But supermarkets mostly don't sell like-for-like — they sell a different product: industrially farmed, long supply chain, with costs externalised onto the land, the farmer, and your health.
Buying collectively keeps prices as low as possible. Our suppliers set their own prices based on what it actually costs to farm well.
Each club's shop is different depending on which suppliers your host has brought on board. You'll typically find fresh fruit and vegetables, pasture-raised meat, eggs and dairy, artisan pantry staples, and baked goods. All suppliers are verified by Food Club Hub.
Orders & availability
No — late orders can't be accommodated. The window closes so your host can send accurate quantities to each supplier. If you miss a window, you'll catch the next one.
Small-scale farming is seasonal. Availability changes week to week based on harvests, weather, and farm capacity. Some suppliers also have a minimum order quantity (MOQ) — if the club's total for that supplier doesn't reach the minimum, we can't include them that week. Please bear with us — it's one of the honest realities of buying from small farms.
Usually yes, but some items — particularly vegetables and meat — vary slightly in weight. We average weights on Market Day to keep things simple. Prices can also fluctuate; we'll always ask before passing on any increase over 10%.
Payment & fees
Payment terms vary by club — some require upfront payment, and some offer card facilities on Market Day. Check with your host for your club's specific arrangement.
Typically, payment is by EFT within 12 hours of receiving your invoice. This is non-negotiable — it's how we pay our farmers on time. Your invoice arrives by email after the order window closes.
Everything is shown on your invoice. Here's how it breaks down:
Collecting & returns
Please check your order before you leave. Once you walk out, you're deemed to have received and accepted all items.
Please arrange for someone else to collect on your behalf and contact your host as early as possible. Check the bottom of your club's shop page for the Market Day date and time.
Refunds are at the supplier's discretion — we act as their agent, not a retailer. If you have an issue, report it within 24 hours with photos and arrange physical return. If the supplier doesn't approve, we can't process a refund. This is why checking your order on Market Day matters.

About Food Club Hub
Food Club Hub is a South African non-profit powering the platform behind your club's shop. They connect regenerative farmers and food producers with community food clubs — currently supporting 55+ active clubs nationwide. They verify suppliers, maintain the platform, and support hosts to run their clubs well.
Food clubs give small producers something the conventional food system rarely offers: they set their own price, get paid within 7 days, have zero waste (orders are placed before anything is produced), and build direct relationships with people who care about where their food comes from.
